The Bay Area Baracus Rugby Football Club's Annual General Meeting is this Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 at 6:30pm! The location is Lynch's place in SOMA. ALL Baracus are needed as we will be discussing many important topics regarding next season and the future of the club. Come be heard!

Baracus narrowly lost to Marin RFC in the final to take home 2nd place and the Toilet Bowl. Read all about it on the Match Reports page.

We're sending a squad to San Rafael 7's this Saturday at Pickleweed Community Center. Yes we need you. Just show up. Boots on by 9:30am. Tourney goes 10-4 to be followed by Union Street/Harrison Ford ridiculousness in the Marina.

We'll be playing touch on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 on at the Marina Green. Completely Optional. Come out and get a run so you don't get fat :-).

Our final match of the 2007-2008 season is this Saturday at East Palo Alto. We need *EVERYONE* to come through to practice Wednesday night and to the pitch on Saturday. There will be two hard matches to play so numbers are critical! Believe it or not you'll miss rugby over the summer, so don't waste this opportunity to end the season strong!

"Practice" will be at PG's Office tonight, Mon March 17th in the form of a special film viewing session. Rugby is a mental game, so show up and exercise your mind.

Practice will be on Treasure Island BOTH nights (Mon/Wed) at 7pm through the end of the season! Come on out because there's plenty of rugby left and your brothers need you!

Sorry for the long delay in an update. We had a great match day last Saturday courtesy of the Harlots, some sprinklers and the Hotel Utah (and a ton of booze, of course). Check out the Match Report for more of the Baracus goodness.

The city has been kind enough not to work on Monday, so practice has been moved from Youngblood to TI. Check out the practice page and your email always for updates!

The First Annual Halloween 10's Tournament was a huge success. Thank you to all the teams that attended, it was a great day of rugby for all, and congratulations to East Palo Alto for taking 1st and 2nd place with their two teams (even though we didn't get to see a final). We're certainly looking forward to playing you guys this season as we were the only team at the tournament to hang a loss on either of your sides! We have some pictures that I'll be putting up in the next couple of weeks, but in the the mean time, thank you to our sponsors and everyone for making this event a huge success.

Great to see so many new and old faces out running around (and gasping for breath) today to celebrate the birthday of Baracus and to kick off our season on the right foot. Ok, time to get some Rugby back in your life. PA 7s are this weekend (Directions are here). Practice will be this week at touch on Tuesday and Thursday. Then grab some beer and head to PA this Saturday for some fun.

Load up the A-team van: Baracus is heading to Palo Alto 7's this year with two teams. We'll be preparing for 7's in the most Baracus of ways: playing touch (and then drinking beer). A reminder to all the players: we're playing an English Touring Side on Treasure Island on Memorial Day, May 28th at 1pm. Also, according to the Pelican Refs site, Palo Alto 7's start June 23rd. It was a lovely day on the sacred Polo Fields in many regards: the sun was shining, the PBR was flowing and the Baracus were running downhill. The Match Report has all the sunshine.

As is apparently an annual event now, the match in Santa Rosa was a cold, wet affair. The Baracus did not play up to their potential this time, and came away empty handed. Read the Match Report for more (including a nice pic of Buckeye Mike).

A solid start to our season, as we travelled en-masse from the Bay Area down to Arroyo Grande and claimed yet another 'field of dreams' for Baracustan. Read the match report for more.

There has been a change of field for this Saturday's match in Arroyo Grande. The directions to the correct field are up on the directions page. Looking at the map, it's almost due East of 101 about 8 miles inland. It still takes around 4 hours from the Bay Area to drive down there, so make sure your ride is setup.

Got some great pics of the UCSC match from Gavin, which was pretty amazing since he played most of the match. Make sure you thank Gavin for his friend/family/relation taking some pics of us busting up some slugs.

Happy New Years to everyone! Now that the new year is upon us, it is time to make sure we take care of business off the field before we take care of business on the field.

First and foremost, PAY YOUR DUES. Take responsibility and take care of it, now.

Registration. Here is what you need to do to get your CIPP registration:

• Pay your dues (registration costs $$$).
• Print out and sign the waiver. (Download the waiver here)
• Photocopy your driver's license (or passport) and medical insurance card and give a copy to Murph.
• Make sure Murph has taken your picture for the NorCal IDs.

The Gods have smiled upon the Nation of Baracustan and we have confirmed our match vs. O-Club tomorrow at West Sunset playground in San Francisco.

Invite everyone you know to come out for some beer, some food and a lot of great rugby tomorrow.

As I'm sure everyone has noticed, it's been raining for almost a week, so there is a good chance that the Polo Fields will be closed. Right now, it's looking like the match will be played in Hayward. Check out the new directions page to find out how to get there.

Once we confirm that the Polo Fields are closed, we'll send out a notice on email and update the website.

Great weekend up in Chico, boys. For everyone that wasn't there, we played 3 matches against Santa Rosa, Redding and Chico, respectively. I'll get the match report up as soon as I can, but, the short version is, we got better with each match and we enjoyed all hospitality Chico had to offer (especially Hurricane).
